Nichiren Daishonin states in “On the Transmission of the Three Great Secret Laws”:

There are two types of Daimoku: the Daimoku chanted during the Former and Middle Days of the Law, and the Daimoku to be chanted during the Latter Day of the Law. Although Bodhisattvas Vasubandhu and Nagarjuna themselves chanted the Daimoku during the Former Day of the Law, they did so to practise for themselves only. During the Middle Day of the Law, Nanyue, Tiantai, and others did chant the Daimoku; however, they did it only for the sake of their own practice and not for teaching others. This type of Daimoku was practiced based on the theory. Now, in the Latter Day of the Law, the Daimoku that Nichiren chants is different from that of previous ages. It is the Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo of the practice for oneself, and the practice for others.

宗祖日莲大圣人于《三大秘法稟承事》曰：

题目者，有二意，所谓正像与末法也。正法虽有天亲菩萨，龙树菩萨唱之，仅止于自行而唱。像法有南岳，天台等，亦唱南无妙法莲华经，但为自行，不广为化他而说。此为理行之题目。入末法，今日莲所唱之题目异于前代，乃亘于自行化他之南无妙法莲华经也。

Nichiren Daishonin states in “The Swords of Good and Evil”:

Money serves various purposes according to our needs. The same is true of the Lotus Sutra. It will be a lantern in the dark or a boat at a crossing. At times it will be water, and at other times, fire. This being so, the Lotus Sutra assures us of “peace and security in this life and good circumstances in the next.”

谓钱者，随用而变也。法华经亦复如是。暗时为灯，渡时为舟，或亦为水，或亦为火。若然，法华经乃现世安稳，后生善处之经也。

Nichiren Daishonin states in “The Swords of Good and Evil”:

Should Nichiren die before you, I will come to meet you at the moment of your death. If you should die before I do, I will be sure to tell King Emma everything about you. All that I tell you is true. According to the Lotus Sutra, Nichiren is the guide on the difficult road to enlightenment. Devote yourself single-mindedly to the faith with the aim of reaching Eagle Peak.

日莲若先去，必来相迎。又若君先行，日莲必向阎魔法王详述之。此事无丝毫虚言。若如法华经之文，日莲为通塞之引导也。只一心贯彻信心，期往灵山。

Nichiren Daishonin states in “On Attaining Buddhahood”:

Even a tarnished mirror will shine like a jewel if it is polished. A mind which is presently clouded by illusions originating from the innate darkness of life is like a tarnished mirror, but once it is polished it will become clear, reflecting the enlightenment of immutable truth. Arouse deep faith and polish your mirror day and night. How should you polish it? Only by chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo.

宗祖日莲大圣人于《一生成佛抄》曰：

譬如暗镜，若经琢磨则视之如玉，今一念无明之迷心乃未磨之镜也。若磨之，必成法性真如之明镜。应深发信心，日夜朝暮不懈磨之。如何磨之，只奉唱南无妙法莲华经，是云磨也。

Nichiren Daishonin states in “On the Lifeblood of True Buddhism”:

Be resolved to summon forth the great power of your faith, and chant Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo with the prayer that your faith will be “steadfast and correct at the moment of your death”.

Nichiren Daishonin states in “Letter to Lord Niike”:
Deep in the Snow Mountains lives a bird called Kankucho which, tortured by the numbing cold, cries that it will build a nest in the morning. Yet, when the day breaks, it sleeps away the hours in the warm light of the morning sun without building its nest. So it continues to cry vainly throughout its life. The same is true of people.

宗祖日莲大圣人于《新池御书》曰:

雪山之寒苦鸟，被寒苦折磨，
虽夜中鸣叫，天亮必造巢；
但日出，贪眠于朝阳之温暖；
忘寒苦，不造巢。
又得夜鸣，如此虚度一生。
一切众生，亦复如是。

Nichiren Daishonin states in “Letter to Niike”:
When they fall into hell and suffocate in its flames, they long to be reborn as humans and vow to put everything else aside and serve the Three Treasures in order to attain enlightenment in their next life. But even on the rare ocassions when they happen to be reborn human, the winds of fame and fortune blow violently and the lamp of Buddhist practice is easily extinguished. They squander their wealth without a qualm on meaningless trifles but begrudge even the smallest contribution to the Buddha, the Law and the Priesthood. This is very serious, for then they are being hindered by messengers from hell.

宗祖日莲大圣人于《新池御书》曰:

堕地狱受焰呛之苦时，只愿未来生而为人搁诸事供养三宝。虽誓愿后世成就菩提，然偶至人间时，名闻名利之风激烈，佛道修行之灯易灭。于无益之事不惜耗尽财宝，却不愿对佛法僧作稍许之供养，此事非等闲，乃地狱之使竞相所为。

Nichiren Daishonin states in “The Real Aspect of the Gohonzon”:
A woman who devotes herself to the Gohonzon invites happiness in this life; and in the next, the Gohonzon will be with her and protect her always.
Like a lantern in the dark, like a strong supporting arm on a treacherous path, the Gohonzon will protect you, Lady Nichinyo, wherever you go.

宗祖日莲大圣人于《日女御前御返事》曰:

供养侍奉御本尊之女人，现在招来幸福，于后生立于此御本尊之左右前后，如暗时之灯，如于险难之处得强力，彼之周围，此之附近，必围绕保护日女御前也。

Nichiren Daishonin states in “The Opening of the Eyes”:

The Sutra of the Foundation in Observing the Mind states: “If you wish to know the causes you have accumulated in the past [in your past existences], look at the effects that are manifested in the present. And if you wish to know the effects that will be manifested in the future, look at the causes you are accumulating in the present”.

Nichiren Daishonin states in “The True Entity of All Phenomena”:

Whatever may happen, you now must practise assiduously, maintain your faith as a votary of the Lotus Sutra, and be a follower of Nichiren throughout your life. If your mind is one with Nichiren, you must be one of the bodhisattvas of the earth.

宗祖日莲大圣人于《诸法实相抄》曰:

此次无论如何，须以法华经之行者，日莲之一门致力信心，若与日莲同心，即地涌之菩萨矣。
