Nichiren Daishonin states in “Gokuyo to the Mandala of Myoho”:
Though this mandala is written in but five or seven characters, it is the master of all Buddhas throughout the three existences and the seal that guarantees the enlightenment of all women.
宗祖日莲大圣人于《妙法曼陀罗供养事》曰:
此曼陀罗文字虽为五字七字，乃三世诸佛之师，一切女人成佛之印文也。
Nichiren Daishonin states in “Orally Transmitted Teachings”(“Ongi kuden”):
Ichinen sanzen (three thousand realms in a single life-moment) arises from the single character “faith”. The attainment of Buddhahood by all Buddhas of the three existences is also based on the single character “faith”. A sword that extirpates fundamental darkness is the single character “faith”. Believing and understanding with no doubts leads one to overcome fundamental darkness.
宗祖日莲大圣人于《御义口传》曰:
一念三千起于信之一字，三世诸佛之成道，亦起于信之一字也。此信字乃斩断元品无明之利剑也。其故，信乃无疑曰信，断破疑惑之利剑也。
Nichiren Daishonin states in “On the Meaning of the True Entity of Myoho-Renge-Kyo”:
Those who honestly discard the expedient teachings, put faith only in the Lotus Sutra and chant Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo, will transform the Three Paths of Earthly Desires, Karma and Suffering into the Three Virtues of the Properties of the Law, Wisdom and Emancipation. The Threefold Contemplation and the Three Truths will immediately manifest themselves in their minds and where they dwell will become the Land of Eternally Tranquil Light.
宗祖日莲大圣人于《当体义抄》曰:
正直舍方便，但信法华经，唱念南无妙法莲华经者，烦恼，业，苦之三道，
转为法身，般若，解脱之三德，显三观，三谛即一心，其人所住之处乃常寂光土也。
Nichiren Daishonin states in “Reply to Kyo’o”:
Kyo’o Gozen’s misfortunes will change into fortune. Muster your faith and pray to this Gohonzon. Then what is there that cannot be achieved? You should believe the Lotus Sutra when it says, “This sutra fulfills one’s desires. It is a clear pond that quenches thirst,” and “They will have peace and security in this life and good circumstances in the next.”
宗祖日莲大圣人于《经王殿御返事》曰:
经王御前亦可转祸为幸。当真诚发出信心向御本尊祈念，焉有不可成就之事。
『充满其愿，如清凉池』，『现世安稳，后生善处』无疑也。
Nichiren Daishonin states in “Reply to Kyo’o”:
I, Nichiren, with sumi ink, have infused my life into the Gohonzon. So believe in it. The will of the Buddha is the Lotus Sutra, but the spirit of Nichiren is nothing other than Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo. Miaole states in his interpretations, “The life of this sutra lies in the revelation of the Buddha’s original enlightenment and the immeasurable duration of his life.”
宗祖日莲大圣人于《经王殿御返事》曰:
日莲魂魄注染于墨而书之，当信也。
佛之意乃法华经，日莲魂魄即南无妙法莲华经。
妙乐释云“以显本远寿为其命”。
Nichiren Daishonin states in “The Letter to Hōren”:
Trying to practise the doctrines of this sutra without faith is tantamount to entering a treasure-filled mountain without hands or attempting to walk on a journey of a thousand ri without feet.
宗祖日莲大圣人于《法莲抄》曰:
无信而行此经，如无手而入宝山，无足而欲行千里之路。
Nichiren Daishonin states in “Reply to Kyo’o”:
Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo is like the roar of a lion. What sickness can therefore be an obstacle?
宗祖日莲大圣人于《经王殿御返事》曰:
南无妙法莲华经如狮子吼。何病可为障乎。
Nichiren Daishonin states in “The Essentials of the Lotus Sutra”:
Question: What are the secret Laws that Nagarjuna, Vasubandhu, Tiantai, and Dengyo could not propagate during the two-thousand-odd years after Shakyamuni Buddha’s passing?
Answer: They are the True Object of Worship of the Essential Teaching, the High Sanctuary of the Essential Teaching, and the five characters of the Daimoku of the Essential Teaching.
宗祖日莲大圣人于《法华取要抄》曰:
问云，如来灭后二千余年，龙树，天亲，天台，传教所留之秘法为何物。
答云，本门之本尊，戒坛与题目之五字也。
Nichiren Daishonin states in “Letter to Lord Niike”:
Deep in the Snow Mountains lives a bird called Kankucho which, tortured by the numbing cold, cries that it will build a nest in the morning. Yet, when the day breaks, it sleeps away the hours in the warm light of the morning sun without building its nest. So it continues to cry vainly throughout its life. The same is true of people.
宗祖日莲大圣人于《新池御书》曰:
雪山之寒苦鸟，被寒苦折磨，
虽夜中鸣叫，天亮必造巢；
但日出，贪眠于朝阳之温暖；
忘寒苦，不造巢。
又得夜鸣，如此虚度一生。
一切众生，亦复如是。
Nichiren Daishonin states in “Reply to Kyo’o”:
